The PPA Tour is coming to our home turf! We have tons of cool stuff planned, including a live pod recording and a meet & greet event with Stack* Athletics. More on that below! But the Picklr Utah Open (not held at a Picklr, but the glittering Salt Palace Convention Center downtown SLC).

Here are the storylines we’re watching:

• Several top players are not playing: Ben, ALW, Parenteau, Jay Devilliers, Quang Duong, Alshon, and back-to-back singles winner Brooke Buckner.

• After playing with Alshon in Bristol, Anna Bright is partnering again with James Ignatowich. They’re seeded #1 in the absence of Ben & ALW, so a gold is in their favor if they can fight off the Johnson sibs.

• Tyler is back in all 3 events, after taking mixed and singles off the last 2 tour stops. He is partnering with Kaitlyn Christian and Utah Black Diamonds buddy Connor Garnett. (CG and Tyler are scheduled to play the remaining 2024 events together in men’s doubles).

• After a short but noticeable hiatus, Mary Brascia is back in the women’s singles bracket. She’s seeded #2, but will have to get through Kaitlyn Christian to get to the finals. Kaitlyn has made the finals in KC and Bristol, but has yet to win gold. Is this her week?

• Riley Newman is back, and partnering with Callie Jo Smith for the first time.

• Collin WILL be playing, despite Ben sitting this one out. He’s partnering with Dekel Bar, and they have the #2 seed.

• James and Matt Wright are giving their partnership another go. Unless there are some upsets, they’ll need to get through Tyler & CG to make it to semis. We know those guys won’t make it easy for them.
