Our viewing guide for the Black Desert Resort Red Rock Open

Black Desert Resort Red Rock Open
There’s a new draw format in store at the Red Rock Open; something that’s never been tried before: a semi-progressive draw. Like a traditional draw, there will be one event a day, but main draw brackets start Wednesday and will be played through quarterfinals. Saturday, semi-final matches for all events will be played on center court, and Championship Sunday will have all gold and bronze matches, as usual. There will be an exclusive broadcast live on Fox from 4:30-6:30 ET.
Overall schedule
Tuesday: Qualifiers for Mixed, Men’s Doubles & Men’s Singles
Wednesday: Qualifiers for Women’s Singles, Singles Main Draw
Thursday: Mixed Doubles
Friday: Qualifiers for Women’s Doubles, Gendered Doubles Main Draw
Saturday: Semi-Finals (all events)
Sunday: Finals (all events)

Little Valley Sports Complex, St. George
Storylines:
Joola-sponsored athletes will be absent, attending an exhibition tour with stops in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Shanghai. This includes: Ben, Collin, AB, Tyson, Brooke Buckner, and Zoey Wang.
Without Ben Johns, Anna Leigh is sitting out mixed. She and Catherine will no doubt be on a vengeance after getting knocked out in QF at the Texas Open a week ago.
For the first time, pickleball will get a prime-time broadcast on Fox, during Championship Sunday. With exception of the Elite 8 games of March Madness, we’re in a bit of a sports doldrums, leaving space for pickleball to wedge into the gap and gain a new legion of fans. (Hey, we can be optimistic).
Coming off back-to-back golds in men’s singles, Christian Alshon has a legitimate chance to triple crown. No Ben & ALW stand in his way in mixed, and he and Andrei are favorites in men’s doubles, having won together in Tucson and Mesa. In singles, his biggest obstacle will be Fed in semis, and could face Hunter on the other side of the bracket in finals. But all matchups are feasible for him to win and take home 3 golds.
“Where’s Jimmy?” is what no one will say, because he’s coming to Red Rock! And let’s hope Tyler doesn’t get pulled over for rolling a stop sign this year.
