Our viewing guide for the Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championships

Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championships
The excitement is already underway at Lifetime Peachtree Corners, a favored venue of pros and fans alike. A whopping 1,579 players were registered across pro and amateur events. The progressive format started with qualifiers this morning, and R64 this morning. Read on for our viewing guide, including storylines to follow!

Life Time Peachtree Corners
Storylines:
For the first time, a PPA event is using the official Life Time branded pickleball. Some have reported it’s 15-20% faster than the Vulcan VPRO Flight. This may prove a challenge for those who’ve never played with this ball, especially with power paddles on the rise. Better get out the safety goggles!
Breaking: Jack Sock withdrew from all events yesterday, due to an ankle injury. “Lucky losers” from qualifiers will get his spots:
Jay Devilliers, after his contract with Vulcan ended, played MLP Columbus with a Joola and was looking like Jay of 2023. He comes into singles with the #35 seed with hopes of turning a few heads.
Men’s doubles will be a stacked bracket, with #1 Fed and Hayden having no easy path to victory, facing #2 Johns/Tardio and #3 Andrei & Christian, who are 18-1 together.
Of course, the biggest story is in women’s doubles, where Anna Leigh and Anna Bright partner for the first time, and their exes (Catherine & Rachel) are looking for sweet, sweet redemption as they partner up and take… checks notes the #1 seed. Women’s doubles will actually be interesting for a change!
