Breaking: Will Howells now MLP eligible

The negotiations have been ongoing for months

Will Howells agrees to terms with UPA

It’s been a big question lingering since The Fives had their MLP Finals run at the end of 2024: will The Fives be able to keep Will Howells? With the new 2025 MLP rules dictating all players must have a contract with UPA, the future was uncertain for Will, who had an MLP-only contract previously.

Howells was a relative unknown before Anna Leigh helped pluck him from obscurity to be the second man on The Fives in 2024. After their strong finish, and everyone’s surprise that this man who came out of the woodwork was such a tough competitor, it became clear the UPA and MLP needed to get him signed.

And it looks like those questions have been answered, as Will and the UPA came to an agreement, allowing him to be eligible to play in the MLP. So, a new question has arisen: with Will available, who do The Fives drop? Mari Humberg also recently signed a UPA contract, making her eligible to play in 2025. Since women are harder to come by, do The Fives drop Zane, who was objectively the worst-performing member of their team? He finished #45 in MLP player rankings, far behind ALW (#1), Will (#7), and Mari (#8).

We expect a busy weekend with more news, as the trading window closes tonight, and the keeper deadline is tomorrow, Feb 16th. Teams must declare their keepers by 7 p.m. ET.

By the way - we usually alert the Discord of news like this before anywhere else.
