What You Missed on Day 2

If you missed today’s action, here’s a rundown of the day’s events:

  • Sweeps - Several matches ended in 3-0 sweeps: Ranchers over Carolina; DC over Black Diamonds; Black Bears over Breakers; Squeeze over Sliders; and Miami over the Breakers

  • The ladies showed up - The top 4 Premier players by points won were all women: Rachel Rohrbacher (73.5%), Tina Pisnik (64.1%), Vivian Glozman (60.98%), and Lacy Schneemann (60.98%). Likewise, in Challenger, women dominated 4 of the top 5 spots: Judit Castillo (58.1%), Angie Walker (58.1%), Michelle Esquivel (57.3%), and Amanda Hendry (54.8%)

  • Jay almost commits murder - During the men’s doubles game of UBD vs. DC, Jay Devilliers smacked an absolute rocket toward James Ignatovich’s chest. Overheard in practice later, all James had to say in response was, “I’m not gonna tell [Jay] to put on a shirt, cause I like it.”

Storylines to watch on Day 3:

  • Lone Star Showdown. We’ll see state rivals Texas Ranchers, fresh off a sweep of Carolina, and Dallas Flash, fresh from a bye. Will the warm-up match benefit the Ranchers? Or will the Flash come out on top with new stars Hurricane Tyra Black and Augie Ge, and top mixed pair JW and Jorja Johnson ready to dominate?

  • NJ 5s 4th match. New Jersey has played only 3 matches so far this year, and all ended in a Dreambreaker. How will they hold up against AZ Drive with #1 doubles player Dylan Frazier, and top 4 MLP player Lacy Schneemann?

  • Extremely tight matches. We’re anticipating so many strong and closely matched teams in today’s events, that there’s no clear or obvious winner. No matter the outcomes, it’s going to be thrilling, and we’re sure the crowd will be electric!
